The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

    Park Plays is a festival of ten short plays exploring and celebrating the events, environs, and denizens of Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Five plays will be commissioned from internationally known playwrights, and half will be selected from an open submissions process.

  • New American Voices (NAV), Queens Theatre's renowned new play development program, is dedicated to supporting writers who represent the rich cultural diversity of the evolving populations of the borough of Queens, New York City and the United States. Since its inception in 2002, approximately one hundred new works have received Play Readings, Showcases and Full Productions on Queens Theatre's three stages.

    Apothetae Playwriting Fellowship, formerly at the Lark, provides a two-year cycle of support to a Disabled writer, for the generation and development of a new play to essay and challenge perceptions of the "Disabled Experience." The fellowship includes outreach and scouting toward the commissioning and development of the new play, and an intensive two-year process of new play development activities for the Fellow through The Lark’s artistic programs, a $40,000 prize, a $5,000 opportunity and resource fund, and a $10,000 production enhancement fund.
  • The MFA program has four tracks: poetry writing, fiction writing, playwriting, and literary translation. The course of study centers on writing workshop classes in which faculty lead students in critiques of one another’s writing. Students take three workshops in their own genre, and a crossover workshop in another genre, and they take two craft classes, one in their own genre and one in another genre.
  • At Conch Shell Productions (CSP), our mission is to infuse a new Caribbean-American and Caribbean Diaspora voices into the American theater and film industry. To do so, we create a space to develop, workshop and produce new plays and screenplays. We believe that art can and should provoke social change. Our productions create an opportunity for diverse audiences to explore and celebrate the unique ethnic/cultural diversity of the 28 multi-lingual Caribbean cultures that have immigrated to other nations seeking new opportunities.
