As a writers’ theater who believes there are as many distinctive styles and voices as there are playwrights, we remain open to as wide a range of plays — and approaches to playwriting — as possible. We are looking for idiosyncratic, accomplished, original theatrical voices.

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to keep the event of live, in-person theater unsafe, Playwrights Horizons has made the difficult decision to remain dark until our community can safely gather again. While we feel this is the only responsible choice, we recognize the struggle it causes for theater practitioners whose income is reliant on non-profit theaters staying open. Established in 1989, Pulse Ensemble Theatre is one of the oldest ensemble theatre companies in New York City. In its new home and under its new structure, Pulse is committed to two major productions a year: one summer Shakespeare site-specific outreach project, and one new script from its Playwrights’ Lab.
