dg resource directory
The act of submitting creative work for a dramatist is as necessary as finishing it. But the process of finding the right submission opportunity can feel overwhelming. This is why, for more than 20 years, the Dramatists Guild has compiled a submissions and opportunities database, and published a full directory of theatres, agents, festivals, contests, workshops, retreats, and other submission opportunities to help make the life of the dramatist an easier one.

This functionality is part of suite of resources designed to help playwrights, composers, lyricists and librettists.

Only active members or subscribers of the Guild may use the Resource Directory.

About PlayPenn: We are a development conference rather than a festival or showcase for new work. The distinction is important and meaningful to us in the current climate of the increasing commercialization of play development; We work to avoid participation in what has become known as “development hell” by placing authority in the hands of the playwright and fostering an environment in which risk is rewarded and honest assessment is encouraged and provided; We make a concerted effort to provide an experience that relieves writers of the distractions of the day-to-day world; We expect...

As Philadelphia’s premier producer of new work, we have been actively involved in the commissioning and development of new plays since our inception in 1988, and are always seeking provocative and dynamic new plays that can be considered for production. To that end, in August 2017 we launched our New Play Development Award, geared toward promising plays that could benefit from additional development and have the potential to be premiered by InterAct in future seasons. The play selected for this award will receive a multi-day developmental workshop at InterAct, along with a $1,000 cash award...

Over the next two years InterAct will commission three plays to be written about and with Philadelphia communities that are under-represented on local (and national) stages. The first of the three Philly Cycle commissions will focus on the city’s community of African American Muslims, which numbers around 200,000. InterAct Theatre Company is seeking U.S.-based playwrights who would be interested in immersing themselves in deep and ongoing conversations with this diverse community and ultimately crafting a singular story that centers this community. Selected playwrights will receive a $15,...
