How the CASE Act Small Claims Court Will Work in Practice

The Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act (the “CASE Act”) was enacted into law on December 27, 2020. Once the CASE Act implementation is complete, it will create a low-cost and voluntary tribunal within the U.S. Copyright Office to handle certain small copyright claims brought by copyright owners and users of copyrighted works. The streamlined process for bringing and resolving a case before the CASE Act’s Copyright Claims Board (CCB) is outlined in a flow chart that you can view here.

Learn more about how the CASE Act can help playwrights, composers, lyricists, and librettists advocate for themselves.
