Pittsburgh Industry Night Out at City Theatre Company

The Dramatists Guild is hosting a night out at the City Theatre Company for a community building event with theatre writers and arts industry workers in Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh Co-Regional Reps, Mora Harris and TJ Young, will be joined by Emmanuel Wilson (DG Executive Director of Creative Affairs) and Jordan Stovall (Director of Outreach and Institutional Relationships) as they kick off a busy week for the Pittsburgh creative community at the beginning of the 2022 TCG Conference. This playwright's night out is free and open to everyone.

Building a Culture of Support and Trust: A Conversation Inspired by the Dramatists Guild Inclusion Rider

Thursday, June 16

Learn how the Dramatists Guild's new inclusion rider can be beneficial to agents, managers, artistic directors, and producers! At this event, the panelists will introduce the Inclusion Rider to agents, managers, artistic directors, and producers. They'll share the reasons for its creation and suggest ways in which it can be applied to theatrical spaces, helping agents, managers, artistic directors, and producers to take impactful steps towards bringing more diversity into their production process. There is also a Q&A.

Together We Rise: Dream Session for a Queer American Theatre

What can we do to build stronger representation of queer stories on our stages?

Galvanized by the momentum of a working group and community event initiated between Rattlestick Theatre, National Queer Theater, Brooklyn Queer theatre, and the Dramatists Guild, this conference session will explore the dramaturgy of queer performance, identify the barriers between queer stories and commercial stages, and engage with audience members to formulate an action plan together.

Don’t miss out on the fun of this ultimate collaboration for theatremakers! Everything's on the line when students write, rehearse, and perform a brand-new play in a single day. Yesterday, six production teams were assembled. Student writers churned out scripts overnight, and student directors and actors have rehearsed all day today. And now, only 24 hours later, they’re ready to share it with you. At The 24 Hour Plays, anything can happen!

Dreaming the Queer Future: TGNC Representation and Playwrights in the American Theatre

Join 2022 Tony-Award nominee L Morgan Lee (A Strange Loop), National Queer Theater, The Dramatists Guild of America, and the New Visions Fellowship for a conversation on trans and gender non-conforming representation in the theatre. Discover how TGNC their stories are told and who is writing them down. Panelists will include Roger Q. Mason (Lavender Men, Lead Mentor of the New Visions Fellowship), Emmanuel Wilson (Co-Executive Director, The Dramatists Guild of America), and the New Visions Fellowship: Ayla Xuan Chi Sullivan, Nick Hadikwa Mwaluko, Storm Thomas, and  Catching On Thieves.

The New Visions Fellowship is a rigorous year-long professional development initiative aimed at celebrating the brilliance of and uplifting Black TGNC writers in the face of the systemic exclusion that Black TGNC writers have endured within American theatre.

Join the Dramatists Guild at Fergie's for a community building night out with your fellow theatre writers and arts industry workers!  Light food and drinks will be provided for attendees, courtesy of the Dramatists Guild. 

After a week at the LMDA Conference, Philadelphia DG Regional Rep, Marjorie Bicknell, will be joined by DG Executive Director of Creative Affairs, Emmanuel Wilson, and Director of Outreach and Institutional Relationships, Jordan Stovall. This event is free and open to everyone.
