Are you considering producing your own work for one of the many fringe festivals around the country? Maybe you are devising work and want to make sure you have the proper contracts to protect everyone involved?

Self Producing Workshop and Dramatists Networking

The Drake Theatre

Thinking about producing your own play? Maybe you're ready to help someone else put up a project. Or perhaps you're just wondering how it's done. Then, this is the perfect workshop for you to attend!

This primer on self-producing will take you through all the critical questions you need to ask, and things you need to consider in mounting a production of your (or someone else’s) play, from the “why” to the “how” to the “how much?"

The workshop will be led by Seth Rozin, producing artistic director of InterAct Theatre Company, along with a representative from the Dramatists Guild's Business Affairs department.

Following the workshop there will be an opportunity to meet new Philadelphia Regional Rep, Marjorie Bicknell and DG's Director of Theatre Relations,Todd London, during a networking event with fellow Philly dramatists.

Devised Theatre - From Collaboration to Contract

Sunday, April 7
10am-12pm
The Drake Theater
302 South Hicks Street
Philadelphia, PA 19102

Theatre has always been a collaborative process. But what happens when the collaboration expands beyond our traditional definitions? What happens when there are not one or two authors, but five or ten? How can we best honor contributions of non-authorial contributors within a devised process? Who is in control? What is there to be control of? How can we assure proper compensation and credit to all of the life of a work created collectively?

These questions have been at the center of a conversation for several years at the Dramatists Guild, where, with a committee of veteran devisers, we have created a Devised Theatre Resource Manual, as well as model agreements.

Please join Guild Director of Business Affairs, Deborah Murad, Esq. and Director of Theatre Relations Todd London for a conversation with the Philadelphia theatre community about how you can best use these materials and the many ways to clarify roles and issues of ownership for devisers and ensembles.
