The Coalition of Broadway Unions and Guilds (COBUG) is comprised of organizations representing workers in the performing arts including all the backstage crafts, front of house, performers, and dramatists. Collectively these groups conceive, construct, and sustain live events in New York.
In March 2020, when the industry shuttered, arts workers -including dramatists- found themselves without work for months. Many are still unemployed. It is impossible to put into words the devastation that this pandemic has caused. Despite the complete elimination of live performances, arts workers have used their skills to make personal protective equipment, to create shows online, and to uplift our essential workers in the darkest of moments.
COBUG is asking for your support to protect all arts workers by making sure that any funding provided by the state includes protections for collective bargaining agreements, union neutrality, and prioritizes workers.
