“The Dramatists Guild of America has been very helpful to my playwriting career, and I’m honored to have been elected your San Francisco Bay Area/Northern California DG Representative. Thank you to Suze Allen for her stellar stint as Rep; I hope to be as useful. Please contact me at PMilton@dramatistsguild.com with questions and suggestions. And please take a moment to complete the member survey below. It will help me focus my efforts on events and activities that work for you. I look forward to serving as your Dramatists Guild regional representative!”

FLORIDA: Susi Westfall

“I’m delighted to be the new Dramatists Guild Florida Rep. I look forward to getting to know and work with you, no matter what part of our really big and diverse state you’re from.  In fact, hearing about you and your work, the theatres you work with, the artist community you have or wish to have, is exciting to me. My goal is to create activities and events that will bring us together creatively, and grow our membership of Florida-based playwrights. Regional Ambassadors from all over Florida will also be part of a planning effort to communicate and connect us.

In looking at a list of Florida members, I know many of you, but not as many as I will. In introducing myself, I’m a playwright and native Miamian who got my BFA in Playwriting at Florida State (a while ago!). In Florida, I’ve worked at the Coconut Grove Playhouse, helped co-found the South Florida Theatre League, and taught playwriting at New World School of the Arts. I’ve had full length and short plays produced, mostly locally here in South Florida. In 1996, I co-founded City Theatre in Miami, a company that primarily (but not exclusively) develops and produces ten minute plays and musicals in a variety of programming, sponsors the City Theatre National Award for Short Playwriting Contest, and presents CityWrights, a national conference for playwrights, held in June, as part of our Summer Shorts Festival. I know many of you from having attended CityWrights, or as playwrights who have submitted, or been produced, at City Theatre.

In beginning the process of getting to know you, please fill out the Florida Dramatists Guild Member Survey below.  This will introduce you to the Dramatists Guild Membership staff, me, and the Ambassadors coming on, and help us identify the membership’s geography, areas of interest, and opportunities for planning events. My email is swestfall@dramatistsguild.com.  I look forward to meeting you very soon!”
