Tracie Morrison

Playwright

Tracie Evette Morrison was born, raised and still resides in Newark, New Jersey. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Douglass College and, her Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Montclair State University. Tracie is currently in her fourteenth year as a Professional School Counselor for Montclair Public Schools. As a writer, Tracie initially spent much of her time writing poetry, prayers and devotionals for church. Her inaugural stage play, The Prayer Dancer, was written in 2000 and produced by the Drama Ministry of Abundant Life Family Worship Church with four performances held at the George Street Playhouse in 2004. The Prayer Dancer was later published in 2015 by the now defunct America Star Books. Disappointed by the outcome of the book publisher, Tracie stopped writing until the advice she often gives her students – “develop your craft” – boomeranged back to her. In April 2019, Tracie joined a community Adult Playwrights Class where she continues to develop her writing skills. Ultimately, Tracie believes that her writing is ministry through the arts!!!
