Raegan Payne

Playwright

Raegan Payne is an award-winning playwright whose plays are regularly produced and performed world wide.  Payne began college as a pre-med student, but soon discovered a love of playwriting, graduating with a double major in English and Theater. She studied Shakespeare at the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University, and learned improvisation and sketch writing at the Groundlings School in Los Angeles, best known as a pipeline of talent for Saturday Night Live.

 

Payne’s newest play, “The Dying Declaration of Madge Oberholtzer,” was developed as part of the Scripps Ranch Theatre’s New Works Studio in San Diego. She is also a proud member of Ammunition Theatre Company’s writers group in Los Angeles. She has taken part in The Royal Court Theatre's Peckham Writers Group,  Iceland’s Klaustrid Artists Residency, and the National Winter Playwright's Retreat in Colorado. She was just awarded The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation Grant. Born in Murray, Kentucky, and raised in Louisville, Raegan currently lives in Southern California where she fosters kittens.
