Peter Michael Marino is a New York City native who has worked extensively as a producer, director, developer, writer, teacher, and performer. His work has been seen on five continents. Pete is a member of The Dramatists Guild, The Indie Theater Fund, AEA, SAG-AFTRA, and a graduate of the Commercial Theater Institute.   • (2021) "Planet of the Grapes" - an online, live epic toy theater experience
  • (2020) Presented over 75 virtual, live, interactive performances of "Show Up, Kids!" and "Desperately Seeking the Exit"
  • (2020) Named "Creative of the Year" by the Younge-Howze Theatre Awards.
  • (2019) Featured Performer and Script Consultant in "Pip's Island" Off-Broadway.
  • Co-writer of Hollywood Nurses, an homage to the lesbian pulp novels of the 1950s. This wild comedy is scheduled for a 2020 Off-Broadway run following the 2017 sold-out benefit reading at Playwrights Horizons starring Kathleen Turner and Rosie O’Donnell.

  • (2012-2014) Solo comedy, Desperately Seeking the Exit, which humorously recounts the London mounting of his musical.   • (2005-2009) Librettist of the West End musical Desperately Seeking Susan, based on the film and featuring the hit songs of Blondie. The show played London’s West End at the Novello Theatre, and Toho’s Theatre creation in Tokyo.
  • (1990-2010) Performer in dozens of Off-Broadway, cabaret and regional productions; as well as countless developmental workshops. Provided the comic relief for five years in the USA, Canada and South America in STOMP.

Producing Experience

  • Creator and co-producer of SOLOCOM, which has presented the world premieres of over 600 national and international solo comedies since 2013 in four venues at The People’s Improv Theater, NYC.
  • Producer of 40 shows at the 2017 & 2018 Unofficial Upper East Side EdFest at Ryan’s Daughter, NYC.
  • Producer-Curator of 45 shows at trumpCON: A Performance Circus of Yuge Proportions at The Kraine Theatre, NYC.
  • Producer of 2015 Edinburgh Fringe hit Gary Busey’s One-Man Hamlet as Performed by David Carl, which embarked on a world tour in 2016-17, including a critically acclaimed run at The Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
  • Producer of TV and Broadway star Jason Kravits’ 2017 Edinburgh improvised cabaret hit Off the Top!, which embarked on a world tour in 2018.
  • Producer of David Mills’ SHAME!, Bill Santiago’s Ultimate Big Bang, Charles’ Moby Alpha, and the 2017 NYC debut of the critically acclaimed immersive hit, Joe’s NYC Bar.

Also the NYC premieres of Chicago’s Illegitimate Players’ A Christmas Twist, and Burton Cohen’s Jackie Lantern’s Halloween Revenge (The Village Theatre), Susannah Nolan’s award-winning production of Don’t Pick Up (American Globe Theatre), and the Western New York premiere of Extremities (Warren Enters Theatre).   • (2015-2018) Adjunct faculty member in Sketch Comedy at William Paterson University and Pace University’s Performing Arts Program.
  • (2010-2017) Recipient of both the 2010 and 2011 Backstage NY Readers Choice Award for Favorite Comedy Teacher for his “Flying Solo” classes at The PIT.
  •  (2012-2015) Guest Artist Teacher for “Comedy Essentials” and “Instant Improv” workshops at the Actors Centre in London
