Michael Hammond

Playwright

 

Michael Hammond is an actor, director, playwright and teacher. He was a member of Shakespeare & Company for many years, last serving there as associate artistic director, and has appeared as an actor on Broadway, and at various regional theaters, including most recently the Portland Stage Company and the Huntington Theatre Company.  Recent directing credits include a devised piece at Boston University entitled Act of Faith (Part One); his own adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, entitled Uncle Jack, co-produced by Boston Center for American Performance and Boston Playwrights’ Theatre; Holiday Memories at New Rep Theatre Company; A View From the Bridge at Brandeis Theater Company; and Back Bog Beast Bait and The Whitmores, also at Boston University.  Michael is also a musician and songwriter, and recently released a CD entitled Gone Before.
