Michael Dexter
Michael Dexter is a Chattanooga native. After receiving his Bachelor of Music in Musical Theater from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, he quickly climbed his own beanstalk to NYC originating the role of Ethan in the Off- Broadway Production of Wanda’s World. Michael is a Composer in the Lehman Engel BMI Musical Theater Workshop, and is a member of Ken Davenport’s Theater Makers Studio. He has appeared in Lés Miserables (Jean ValJean), Eve Apart (The Serpent), The Beth Falcone Songbook, Dreamgirls (Little Albert), Smokey Joe’s Café (Victor), and Finding Nemo, The Musical. Michael also holds an additional Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Music Education, and a Master's in Education: Principal Licensure from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Michael teaches Theater to middle and high school students at the Chattanooga Preparatory School. Currently, Michael is preparing Giant Steps, An Urbean Musical for its July 22, 2022 world Premiere at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre. Michael’s upcoming projects include: The Michael Dexter Songbook: Volume 1, 20 New Musical Theater Songs for Men, Soul City, The Musical an adaptation of Toure’s book Soul City and Apology which will become a musical adaptation of Plato’s The Apology of Socrates.
