I believe art offers an invitation to heal. Art challenges us to reconsider and reevaluate our conditioned behaviors; as well as how we view ourselves and others in this world. I’m not sure why I was granted access to healing in this godforsaken world, but I’ll be damned if I let it go to waste. I recognize that my stories are not my own. My stories offer a gateway to healing, to mending, to reconciling, to liberation, to self personification, and to finding joy in the pain for others who relate. The strength and resilience of the black woman rely on us, on me, telling the stories that are true and authentic to both the beauty and complexities of our lived experience.
