Joseph Dougherty’s play Chester Bailey premiered at A.C.T. in San Francisco where it was chosen Outstanding World Premier Play and Outstanding Production of a Play by the TBA Awards. Chester Bailey opened the 2019 Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University in West Virginia. Dougherty has received Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for his play Digby presented by Manhattan Theatre Club. He wrote the libretto for the Tony Award winning musical My Favorite Year, produced at Lincoln Center Theatre. An Emmy and Humanitas Prize winner for his work on the groundbreaking series thirtysomething, he is the author of several movies for HBO, including the occult noir classic Cast a Deadly Spell. He has written for several popular television series including Judging Amy, Once and Again, Saving Grace, and Pretty Little Liars.
