Josef is a Minnesota-based creator with a lengthy history in absurdist comedy, musical theater and community-engaged performance. He is a founding artist of the zAmya Theater Project and a longtime artistic associate with both Bedlam and Open Eye Theatres.
Highlights
Josef's trilogy of outdoor musicals, commissioned (earlier in the pandemic) by Open Eye Theatre in association with Minneapolis' Bakken Museum, recently concluded with a sold-out run of its final installment, "Loch Mess," a playful and loosely historical mashup of sea monsters, disaster films and "Show Boat." His latest musical, "Whoa Nellie: The Outlaw King of the Wild Middle West," received a world premiere production at History Theatre (St. Paul) in May-Jun 2025.
