John D Westby
Human, marketer, playwright, actor, brander, writer, reader and creative not always in that order. Creativity comes from a passion to realize something different and exciting on the stage for actors and other collaborators to use to springboard into their creative spaces. In the process there are secrets to reveal, wounds to heal, and the unknown to explore with characters we desperately want to love in spite of - or because of - their choices.
John's plays have been viewed in staged readings and produced at theatres in Chicago metro area, including productions of Random Theft & Other Acts (3 productions), Person or Persons Unknown, The Ultimate Christmas Carol, #Christmas Makeover, A Modern Christmas Carol (also called The Ballad of CC Scrooge), Dear Abigail/Dear John: An Incandescent Love Story (video production), A Very Common, Uncommon Love Story (Zoom production), and Working Hard or Hardly Working (10-minute play). John is a graduate of the University of Illinois and is a network playwright at Chicago Dramatists and a member of the Dramatists Guild. He is currently working on an MFA in Creative Writing with Lesley University.
