Jeffrey Fischer Smith is a Los Angeles area-based writer and producer working in theatre, film, and television. His stage plays have been produced in New York City and around the USA from Washington to Georgia and California to Massachusetts. Internationally, his work has been produced in Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Mexico, and the Philippines. Jeffrey’s short film Reservations (co-screenwriter / co-executive producer) – based on his award-winning short play of the same name – is currently making the film festival circuit.
The stage production of his play Reservations received the top three awards at the inaugural Short + Sweet Hollywood Festival (Overall Production, Actor, and Playwright.) Jeffrey was a Finalist for: The Kennedy Center / National New Play Network MFA Playwrights’ Workshop in 2017; The Actors Theatre of Louisville’s National Ten-Minute Play Contest (Heideman Award) in 2016; and, The Playwrights’ Center Core Apprentice Program in 2016. His short play A Dog Dreams was a Gala Finalist in Short + Sweet Sydney in 2016. His full-length play When the Son is Shining was one of ten Finalists (out of nearly 600 plays submitted) in the American Blues Theatre’s Blue Ink Playwriting Contest in 2018.
Jeffrey’s plays have been published in The Louisville Review, Qu, a contemporary literary magazine from Queens University of Charlotte, and The LIC One Act Play Festival Vol. 2, Top Secret Books. As a poet, he has been published in Three Line Poetry and The Risley Review.
