Eric Lane


Eric Lane's award-winning plays have been performed worldwide. They are published by Dramatists Play Service, Playscripts, Dramatic Publishing and in "Best American Short Plays" and "Best Short Plays 2021." Premieres include Encore Musical Theatre (2022), Adirondack Theatre Festival (commission), Summer Shorts at 59E59, WHAT, HERE, La MaMa, and Theatre Travels (Sydney). With Nina Shengold, Eric has edited 14 play anthologies for Penguin and Vintage Books, earning a Lambda Literary Award nomination. 

Eric's works have been performed by Jennifer Aniston, Marcia Jean Kurtz, Michael Urie, Victor Williams, and Academy Award winner Melissa Leo. They have been developed at N.Y. Theatre Workshop, The Barrow Group, The Lark, and Ensemble Studio Theatre, where he is a Member Artist. He has collaborated extensively with director Martha Banta. His short films have screened around the globe, including at the British Film Institute and the Director’s Guild of America. 

Honors include a Writers Guild Award, the Berrilla Kerr Playwriting Award and the La MaMa Playwright Award. He has received fellowships at Yaddo and St. James Cavalier in Malta. Eric is an honors graduate of Brown University.
