Eli Newell
Eli Newell is an artist & organizer working at the intersections of live storytelling, grassroots movement-building and Jewish communal leadership. A Rabbinic and Cantorial student pursuing dual ordination in Aleph: the seminary of Jewish Renewal, Eli is a lifelong theater-maker whose works have been seen in Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul and New York, in venues spanning conventional theater spaces, neighborhood streets, industrial sites, and a long-running speakeasy on the Magnificent Mile. Born and raised in the Twin Cities, Eli is a proud Jewish Midwesterner through and through, currently a community organizer with IfNotNow Movement, having spent time organizing for environmental justice as a leader in Sunrise Movement, offering solidarity presence co-resisting with Palestinian farmers and their families on the ground in the West Bank, and facilitating embodied spiritual practice supporting Jewish and interfaith communities, with students and families all over the world.
