Deb Hiett
Raised in the Deep South, Deb Hiett moved to Los Angeles after years of living in New York City, where she performed as an actress, writer, dancer, and musician. L.A.’s Rogue Machine Theatre produced the World Premiere of Deb’s play “The Super Variety Match Bonus Round!” which The Los Angeles Times called “ingenious,” and which was just named in the “Top Ten Best World Premiere Plays” by StageSceneLA. That same play was a Finalist for the 2017 Reva Shiner Comedy Award. Deb’s play “Miss Keller Has No Second Book” received its World Premiere at NNPN theatre Gulfshore Playhouse (Naples, FL) in April 2018, and is a Finalist in the 2017 Ashland New Play Festival, Chicago's Route 66 New Play Workshop, and the 2017 Local Lab New Play Festival (Boulder, CO), as well as a Semifinalist in the 2016 O’Neill National Playwrights Conference, 2016 PlayPenn New Play Workshop, and 2016 Princess Grace Playwrights Fellowship. Her 10-minute play, "Chain Link," was selected for Nylon Fusion Theatre Company's "Best of Ten Years of 'This Round's On Us'" Festival 2018. Another short play, “The Presentation,” was produced as part of the 2017 Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Short Play Festival and was a Finalist for the 2017 Heideman Award. Her most recent play, "The Escape Thingy" was a Finalist for The Reva Shiner Comedy Award as well as Semifinalist for the 2018 Ashland New Play Festival, 2018 Bay Area Playwrights Festival, and the 2018 Garry Marshall Theatre New Works Festival.
