David Thatcher Maglione, known by friends as “Davey”, composes music and songs for Theater, Film, TV, Orchestra, and Other Mixed Media. Originally from North Western, NJ, they are now based in New York City. Davey is influenced by Music, Nature, Story, and Ancestry, and their growing experience as a Trans & Nonbinary person in a modern world.

Music written by Davey has been heard at venues in NYC such as 54 Below, The Laurie Beechman, and The Duplex, to name a few. Theater projects include: lost letters (developed with Untitled Musical Group), Gender Crisis at a Frat Party (with Liv Wilson), The Only Way Out (Brisons Veor Residency, Cape Cornwall, England), Wendy’s Shadow (written with Tomas Ruiz, presented at NYMF - 2015, Hamilton Stage -2016, and Mac-Haydn Theatre - 2018), Martin and Meelo (book, music and lyrics, commissioned by Mac-Haydn - 2018), and The Most Incredible Thing (book, music and lyrics, commissioned by Mac-Haydn - 2019).

Their work has been developed at multiple stages including living room shares, table workshops, residencies, readings, concerts, commissions, and productions. Proud member of The Dramatists Guild, Maestra, ASCAP, and Local 802. Training: Berklee College of Music, BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Writing Workshop (2015).

As a pit musician, Davey has played Piano and Accordion in many different orchestras from Community Theater pits, to High School and College productions, to Regional Theaters, such as Geva, PaperMill, and Cape Fear Regional. From there, Davey played on the National tour of Fiddler on the Roof, and then the Off-Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof, presented by National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene.
