David MacGregor
I am a playwright, screenwriter, novelist, and a resident artist at Jeff Daniels' Purple Rose Theatre in Michigan, where nine of my plays have been produced. My newest play, The Antichrist Cometh, will premiere at the Purple Rose in 2024. I have been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama, my plays have been performed from New York to Tasmania, and my work has been published by Dramatic Publishing, Playscripts, Applause, Heuer Publishing, and Theatrical Rights Worldwide (TRW). I wrote the screenplay for the dark comedy, Vino Veritas (2013), which stars Carrie Preston (Emmy-winner for The Good Wife), and my screenplay In the Land of Fire and Ice was a 2016 Athena List Winner (best screenplays featuring female protagonists). It is currently under option with Oscar-nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo attached.
During the Covid-19 hiatus, I adapted my three Sherlock Holmes plays (Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Elusive Ear, Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Fallen Soufflé, and Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Ghost Machine) into novels, which are published by MX Publishing (London) and are currently being translated into Italian for Mondadori.
