C. Denby Swanson

Playwright

C. Denby Swanson is a graduate of HSPVA, Smith College, the National Theater Institute, and the Michener Center for Writers at UT-Austin, where she was a Michener Fellow in playwriting and screenwriting. She has been the recipient of a Jerome Fellowship, McKnight Advancement Grant, William Inge Residency, and the NEA/TCG National Theater Residency Program for Playwrights. Her work is published by Playscripts, Smith & Kraus, Heinemann Press, and Dramatists Play Service. Her play NUTSHELL, an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation/EST commission about Frances Glessner Lee, "the mother of forensic science," was included in First Light Festival, the Austin New Play Festival, and the 2020 Alley All New Festival. She has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at Southwestern University, Texas State University, Cornell College, and the University of Texas at Austin. She is a member of Honor Roll!, an advocacy group of women+ playwrights over 40.
