Angela J. Davis is the author of The Spanish Prayer Book (World Premiere and two-month run at The Road Theatre Company, 2019-20 season; praised by the L.A. Times as an L.A. Times Best Bet and "a literate meditation on the boundaries of art and social responsibility" and by literary critic and former Pulitzer Prize Jury Chair Steven Leigh Morris as "a beautiful, intricate, and important new play" ), Clara and Serra and the Talking Bear (commissioned and produced by Antaeus, 2020-21 season), AGATHE (recipient of multiple national and international honors, including The Landing Theatre New American Voices Award, The Henley Rose Award (First-Place Winner), SETC Getchell Award for Outstanding New Full-Length Play, Sohaya Visions / RAFTA Festival (London) Official Selection and Special Commendation, Jane Chambers Award Top-4 Finalist and Honore, Griswold (2022 A is For Playwriting Prize - first place winner (juried by affiliates of Broadway Works For Women; Martha Plimpton and Kellie Overbey producers), 2022 Playhouse Creatures (NYC) Rodriguez Award and a 2022 official selection for FutureFest, the National Women's Theatre Festival, and The Vermont-based American Dreaming New Works Festivals.  Her short plays include  Hong Kong Date Night (selected best comedic short by an international jury for Ojai Valley Arts Ensemble and an official selection for festivals in NY, CA, and Florida) and an award-winning series of dramatic one-acts inspired by women who faced nightmares of history.

Recipient of multiple playwriting honors, including: A is For Playwriting Award (first-place jury winner), Landing Theatre New American Voices Award, Playhouse Creatures Rodriguez Award (twice), Henley Rose Award (first-place winner), SETC Getchell Award (first-place winner) FutureFest Official Selection (twice),  New American Voices Award (2020), Eugene O’Neill semi-finalist (three times: 2017, 2018, 2020), Moss Hart & Kitty Carlisle Hart New Play Initiative - Top 21 playwrights (2018), ATHE Award for Excellence in Playwriting 2nd Place Winner (2018), PlayPENN Top-12 Finalist (2017).

Recent work presented and/or forthcoming at Playhouse on the Square, Antaeus Theatre Company,The Landing Theatre, The Chameleon Theatre Circle, The HRC Showcase Theatre, The Road Theatre Company, The Blank Theatre, The Itinerant Theatre Company, Theatre In the Raw (Vancouver), Sugarloaf Performing Arts Center, Viterbo, and elsewhere. 

Angela’s poetry, prose, and essays appear in numerous national publications, including a University of Iowa Press anthology.
