The internet is a powerful tool for spreading awareness of your work to a wide-audience, but what are your legal rights after you put your creations online? This webinar will provide an overview of the relevant areas of intellectual property law (copyright, trademark, and likeness/personality rights) and discuss the steps you can take to manage and protect your work. About our Facilitator:

Adam's practice combines his love of the arts and performance, fascination with the changing landscape at the intersection of law and digital media, and insight gained from his past as an associate at a litigation firm, fighting for his clients in court and resolving complex disputes. Outside of law, Adam is a musician and performer with a passion for the Blues, R&B, and Rock, and dabbles in documentary film-making.

    About The Artist Exchange:

  • Career Journey (PT)

A central challenge for many performing arts and entertainment professionals is navigating the episodic nature of their work in the industry. For many, survival work—initiated to make ends meet—ends up draining the creative professional and becoming more problem than solution. The purpose of this workshop series is to assist performing arts and entertainment professionals in their search to find meaningful work. Career Journey offers strategies to gain agency over your career.

    •    Identifying your work values to help you find meaningful work
    •    Identifying your interests to help you find engaging work
    •    Identifying  your personality preferences to help you find work environments where you thrive
You'll discover what meaningful work looks like for you while developing language you can use in a resume, interview, and while networking.

Career Journey - Act 2: What Are the Possibilities?
Now that you know your values, interests, and personality preferences, what are the possibilities? To continue on your career journey you will:
    •    Identify your transferable skills
    •    Develop your strategic career blueprint
    •    Utilize career brainstorm techniques to think outside the box
You'll discover a sense of what is possible in your career moving forward.

Career Journey - Act 3: How Will I Get There?
Now that you have brainstormed potential work opportunities, how will you get there? To continue on your career journey you will:
    •    Navigate labor market research resources and strategies
    •    Learn to develop your network to find people and organizations that can help
    •    Learn how to test work ideas through experience
You'll evaluate your work ideas based on who you are and what you need to find a meaningful fit.

    • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Orientation (ET)

Join an Orientation session for The Actors Fund’s upcoming free online 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction courses for those in the performing arts and entertainment. MBSR uses meditation, gentle yoga, and inquiry as a way of training people to relate differently to stresses in their lives. The course was originally developed for patients in chronic pain and has since been shown to be beneficial for dealing with stress and anxiety while improving overall well-being.

These MSBR orientation sessions will provide an in-depth look at the course, give an introduction to mindfulness meditation, and answer questions you might have about how mindfulness might be of value to you. Attending an Orientation session is the only prerequisite for taking one of the full courses. There are four (4) Orientation Dates for MBSR:
