SUMMARY
Reinvention and myth-making: Steve Wynn turns the two performers Siegfried & Roy into a product that fills the 3,044 rooms of The Mirage.
Shangri-La-La is a bold, irreverent comedy musical set inside the glittering illusion machine of Las Vegas. This abbreviated one-hour festival version focuses on Siegfried & Roy and their extraordinary reinvention at Steve Wynn’s Mirage Hotel. Created as global icons to fill its 3,044 rooms, they helped usher in a new era of family-friendly entertainment, replacing topless showgirls with white tigers, sequins, spectacle, and magic on an epic scale. But behind the glamour lies a carefully manufactured myth — and a legal battle where the search for justice goes up in smoke. Visually playful, sharply comic, and inspired by true events, Shangri-La-La captures the moment Las Vegas reinvented itself — and two performers became its most dazzling illusion.
Shangri-La-La will be playing at The American Theatre for Actors inside the Cullum Theatre, as part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival, from July 25th-26th.
Saturday, July 25 @ 8 pm
Sunday, July 26 @ 2 pm
