PHILADELPHIA: DG Footlights- Sweet Revenge by Julie Zaffarano

January 21 2020 / 07:00 PM

DG Footlights™ is proud to present Sweet Revenge, a comedy by Julie Zaffarano. The reading is free and open to the public.

Synopsis: Sunny, a perpetual hippie, and her sister, Joni, own Sweet Revenge, a quaint bakery in Spring Lake, NJ. Joni’s boyfriend, Brian, convinces them to take an extensive loan using the family home as collateral to renovate the bakery and enter a contest with the Treats and Tweets reality show in order to increase sales. The host of the show, Maurice Bailee, and his assistant, Charlie, show up for live-streaming a week early in the midst of the renovations. Expected and unexpected chaos ensues.

DG Footlights™ is a program, created and moderated by the Dramatists Guild, that connects dramatists with free space in which to hold a public reading of a new work that is currently in development. This initiative operates on a space-grant model: a representative from the Guild will arrange for a venue to donate space during allocated dates and times, and will ensure that the space is available for dramatists to use to present a self-produced reading to the public, with an optional feedback session following the reading. Attendance is always free and open to all.
