NYC: Friday Night Footlights- Planet Alice by Jonathan Grupper
The Dramatists Guild's Friday Night Footlights® series continues its series of play readings with Planet Alice by Jonathan Grupper. This reading is free and open for all to attend.
A dark, radical dramedy that speaks to how confronting choices, right or wrong, can draw us together, while a single regret can tear us apart. A boy with autism claims he can see the future, which pits his divorced parents against each other. As we experience his secret world, we uncover a secret shared. The family discovers that the real question that weighs on humanity is not "are we alone in the universe?" It's "are we alone on Earth?"
DG Footlights™ is a program, created and moderated by the Dramatists Guild, that connects dramatists with free space in which to hold a public reading of a new work that is currently in development. This initiative operates on a space-grant model: a representative from the Guild will arrange for a venue to donate space during allocated dates and times, and will ensure that the space is available for dramatists to use to present a self-produced reading to the public, with an optional feedback session following the reading. Attendance is always free and open to all.
