The State of the Hudson Valley Convening: A DG Community Dialogue is the DG’s very first endeavor to bring together the vast community of playwrights living and working in the entire Hudson Valley area, from Yonkers to the Capital Region, for a proper convening.

This event will include some small group discussions, dialogical forms, and graffiti board/generating writing and mapping on poster boards.

There is nothing to prepare. Please show up dressed to walk/move if you are able, be willing to contribute to the discussions and forms, and arrive on time, with an open mind.

The goals of this event will be:

  • To discover who is here, where we work, what our theatres are like, who are communities are, and to speak to each other;
  • To begin to define what our regional identity is, and what it looks like;
  • To asset map our bright spots, and locations, and to name what is noteworthy;
  • To identify our key challenges;
  • To advocate for our distinct regional narrative;
  • To collect important data;
  • To lay the groundwork towards developing a regional strategic plan to serve local DG member playwrights;
  • To identify key individuals and communities of writers that would benefit from DG services;
  • To imagine and design the future of our region.
