NEW JERSEY: How to be a New Jersey Playwright
Sunday, October 13
Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre
120 Morris Avenue
Summit, NJ 07901
What are some of the NJ-specific opportunities and how do you take advantage of what’s right in your own backyard as well as reach beyond our own communities to establish a more national presence?
Join us for a panel and town hall discussion on some of the ins-and-outs of what being a playwright in New Jersey entails.
NJ-based playwrights, including Ian August, Deborah Brevoort, Phoebe Farber, Stephen Kaplan, Erin Mallon, Lia Romeo, David Lee White, and Pia Wilson, will share their experiences working in NJ and beyond, and we’ll all explore further what it is to be a New Jersey playwright.
After the panel, we invite everyone to attend the 2pm closing performance of Lia Romeo’s The Lucky Ones. Vanessa and Janie are best friends… until a devastating diagnosis forces them to consider what that friendship means and how much it matters. An exploration of aging, mortality, and the value and complexity of female friendship.
Please keep in mind that this Eventbrite is a registration to the panel on being a playwright in New Jersey. It is not an RSVP to the performance of The Lucky Ones. All participants are invited to attend the show afterward, but no one is required to do so. Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatreparticipates in the Playwrights Welcome program, which entitles Dramatists Guild members one free ticket on the day of the performance, pending availability. Be sure to bring your Dramatists Guild member card. If you’d like to guarantee your ticket, or if you’d like to purchase tickets for a non-DG member, Dreamcatcher is offering a discount ticket price of only $20 (normally $39) for DG members.
