Celebrate the final national tour stop and permanent installation of our Lorraine Hansberry sculpture, To Sit A While, honoring the great American playwright!
Open and free to the public. No registration required.
The sculpture installation will be punctuated by an evening-length stage celebration on Navy Pier’s Lake Stage at Polk Bros Park. The program will conclude with a screening of Hansberry’s landmark work, A Raisin in the Sun.
This is an outdoor program at Navy Pier’s Lake Stage at Polk Bros Park. Please feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
Program begins at 5:45 PM.
Lynn Nottage and Mahogany Browne will be featured speakers. Excerpts of Work by Hansberry-Lilly Fellows, Amalia Oliva Rojas and Danielle Stagger will be read. Followed by a Screening of A Raisin in the Sun (1961) at 6:50 PM
This program is presented in partnership with Navy Pier, with artistic direction by Congo Square Theatre.
