About the event:

Applying for grants is exhausting and uncertain, and while there is no guarantee that an excellent grant application will lead to money, there are a few things you can do to increase your odds of success.  Remember, you are storytellers and learning how to bring your story into your application process can lead you in the right direction.

In this workshop, we’ll review five key grant application tasks, creating your own checklist for success.

Specifically, we will:

• Determine eligibility. Research is often the first step in applying for grants, so we’ll start there.
• Define the solution. Articulating your own response to the grant (i.e., your solution) is key, so we’ll work on that next.
• Embed community. Creative work is community work (and vice versa), so we’ll make sure your grant reflects your community.
• Articulate a plan. Budgets, and timelines, and strategies, oh my!
• Ask for help. Healthy people ask for help, and that is 100% true in working with a funder.

If you attended the March 26 Attorneys Backstage event about DIY Festivals and it inspired you to build a budget for an upcoming festival, feel free to bring your budget to this webinar and Elaine can walk through it with you (time permitting)!  And even if you don't have a need to write a grant in the immediate future, having these tools in your back pocket will give you more confidence to embrace the process in the future.
