SUMMARY
Writing is a journey. Writing is a process. Sometimes it can feel like a solitary one. But it doesn't have to be solitary from the beginning to the end. That's where writing groups come in. Writer's groups are communities and safe spaces for writers to support one another and inspire each other. That's why the Dramatists Guild offers ongoing online writing group sessions, designed to transform your solitary endeavor into a communal experience.
We invite all theatre writers, actors, directors, technicians, designers, and more interested in helping to workshop and cultivate new works to join us. Creatives beyond the Gulf Coast region are welcome. It is free and open for all to attend.
The format: dramatists can submit to have up to 10 pages of work read, with several writers having their work read in a single night. These are not professional readings, just a vehicle for dramatists to hear their work read aloud. Participants should be ready to take turns reading and to provide feedback to other dramatists in a respectful manner, should they be interested in receiving it.
Writers must be present to have their work read.
These sessions are available to members and non-members cross the country, providing a supportive and focused environment where writers can participate and dedicate time to craft. Hosted by our passionate Regional Representatives, Ambassadors, and dedicated volunteer hosts from coast to coast, these writing group sessions are here to invigorate your writing process.
No matter where you are, you’ll find a community ready to support and inspire you. Whether you're embarking on a new project or advancing an ongoing one, join us and discover the encouragement and accountability that only a united community of writers can offer.
