Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas (Nominee) For twenty years, I have worked as a playwright in all kinds of venues, across the U.S. and internationally. Mashuq Mushtaq Deen (Nominee) Aside from theatre, I also have a background — earned through necessity — in social justice activism. As a minority on many fronts, and also as someone in my forties, I am used to complicated conversations about intersectionality and representation. My… READ MORE

Daniel Goldfarb (Incumbent) My first two terms on council have been full and active. I am entering my fifth year serving on the Steering committee, have recently joined the new Finance Committee, am completing my three-year term representing the Guild as a Tony Award Nominator for The… READ MORE

Mark Hollmann (Incumbent) We’re only as good as the help we’re giving to our members who are at the beginning of their careers, as well as to all our members who do not yet have agents. That’s my measure of how well we’re doing as a Guild. It’s the contract advice we give to a playwright… READ MORE

Chisa Hutchinson (Nominee) I’m a friggin’ poster child for the benefits of the Guild, having received everything from legal advice to emergency funds to surprise awards. That this community would invest so much in me has made my little heart swell with gratitude and compelled me to give… READ MORE

Julia Jordan (Incumbent) I have greatly enjoyed serving as the Treasurer of the Dramatists Guild. If re-elected I will continue to add my voice to those concerned about the diversity in theatre and lead the work on the National Count.  We are obviously in a time of change and it is… READ MORE

Michael Korie (Incumbent) It’s been a privilege and an honor serving on the Dramatists Guild Council and helping to advocate for the needs of the membership’s playwrights, composers and lyricists. For the past six years I have been enthusiastically committed to chairing the DG Fellows musical… READ MORE

Michael Lew (Incumbent) Serving on the Dramatists Guild Council has been one of my highest priorities and greatest joys as an artist. Since first being elected in 2014, I’ve attended nearly every Council meeting, in addition to working on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and… READ MORE

Robert Lopez (Incumbent) In 2017, so many of our beloved cultural institutions feel more vulnerable than ever before. Serving on the Dramatists Guild Council in recent years has made it abundantly clear to me that the Guild is not something we can afford to take for granted. It is time for… READ MORE

Mona Mansour (Nominee) As a writer, I’ve tended to be most interested in how different outside “circumstances” outside the home (politics, money, the prevailing ethos) shape the lives inside. I’m proudly Arab American, and feel very fortunate to be part of the Middle Eastern theatre community… READ MORE

Robert Schenkkan (Incumbent) It has been an honor to represent you on the National Council. Shortly after my election, I was asked to join the Steering Committee, the organization that oversees the tactical and strategic direction of the Dramatists Guild, as well as vetting each… READ MORE

Georgia Stitt (Nominee) The place where music and drama meet is, in my opinion, the most exciting place to be a writer. I grew up as a classical musician but didn’t begin to feel at home until I started using music as storytelling. The issues musicians face can be quite different from those of other… READ MORE
