    As some of you might have heard, due to the evolving situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19), The Actors Fund is continually evaluating how we can best promote the health and safety of our community while still providing access to our services. In the meantime it has become necessary to close our Los Angeles office and temporarily transition our in-person programs to online and phone meetings only for the coming weeks.

    An introduction to all The Career Center programs and services, including career development workshops, including resume, job seeking, and interviewing, group and individual career counseling and our job bulletin. This workshop is open to all entertainment professionals. Orientation is held every Monday except for legal holidays.

    Dr. Samantha Stimmel completed her residency in Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore. Her interests include Reproductive Health, LGBT Health and primary care. 

    Dr. Jason Kindt graduated from the Philadelphia Collage of Osteopathic Medicine. He is the Medical Director of the Friedman Health Center and is board certified in Family Medicine, with extensive experience in urgent care.

    Orientation is the first step to enrolling in the services of The Career Center. 

    The Career Center addresses a central challenge for performing arts and entertainment professionals: navigating the episodic nature of work in the industry. For many, survival work—initiated to make ends meet—ends up draining the creative professional and becoming more of a problem than a solution. This orientation will help you begin to take the necessary steps to identify meaningful work that complements your life in the entertainment business.

    Orientation for The Career Center (EST) is held every Monday, except national holidays, at 12 noon and some Monday evenings at 5 pm.

  • Affordable Housing for Seniors (NYC)

    Tailored for senior citizens, this seminar helps participants better understand the affordable housing landscape and get organized and prepared to take advantage of opportunities to apply. While much of the content is similar to the “Applying for Affordable Housing” seminar, which is intended for the general population, this seminar focuses on information that will be most relevant for older adults in NYC. The application process is explained in simple steps and help applicants avoid common mistakes. Information regarding income eligibility and documentation is discussed to address the specific needs of the performing arts and entertainment community. In addition to general information about affordable housing, information is also provided about The Actors Fund housing for performing arts professionals. The following questions will be addressed:

    • How do you find and apply for affordable housing?
    • What housing opportunities and resources are available to older adults in NYC?
    • What are the eligibility requirements? (Income, household size, credit, housing history, etc.)
    • How does a housing lottery work?
    • Can you get on a waiting list?
    • How can you best prepare yourself for an interview?
    • What are your options if you are denied?
