July 2011 after returning from Gary Garrison’s Kennedy Intensive in Washington DC (Marsha Norman, Paula Vogel, David Ives) after getting off of the airplane in Ohio,
Evans wrote the core of ENTER SINGING a brand new musical, 33 page book and 6 songs,  in 14 days!

In February, 2012, 5 vocalists from Tucson, Arizona, recorded songs from ENTER SINGING at Luna recording in Tucson.

Evans attended  the ASCAP/Schwartz  (Wicked, Godspell) musical workshop in Manhattan, April, 2012 where she wrote 2 additional songs, OBSESSING and TRIBE OF BOOKLOVERS.

With feedback on the libretto (book) and lyrics from director, actor, Jim Lockwood of Dayton Playhouse (Home of Futurefest) Evans finished writing the 85 page libretto.

Progress of ENTER SINGING was written about in the September/October , 2012, issue of the Dramatists Guild magazine.

In December and January, 2012, additional songs were recorded at Sweetwater Recording in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. 14 songs from ENTER SINGING are now available on CD.

Evans has been invited by the Ohio Circle Playwrights through  the  Education Dept. of Human Race Theater in Dayton, which is dedicated to new musical works,  to give ENTER SINGING a reading workshop in 2013.   

Evans has an MFA in film from Columbia College, Chicago. She wrote the music and lyrics for a 20 minute cantata which she directed her first year of college.

Evans’ drama, LIPSTICK ON A PIG, was developed when she was a Playwright-in-Residence, summer, at Ensemble Studio Theater, NY, NY (Curt Dempster): It won the James Sherman Award for Meritorious Excellence in Playwriting from Timber Lake Playhouse and a special commendation from the Open Book, NY, NY(Marvin Kay)producer. LIPSTICK ON A PIG had an Equity production at the Beckett Theater, NY, NY(producers: Small Pond Productions, Theater Row Enterprises and Satellite Productions, LLC)

Evans’ absurdist comedy, STICKY GIRLS has had numerous productions. It had an Equity production at the Workshop Theater, NY, NY (Patricia Watt, producer,
”Love, Janis”  & Watt & Fred Astaire Awards).

Evans’ screenplay, TUCSON SUCCESS STORY, was in upper 10% of over 600 entries the Nicholl Fellowship (Academy Awards) and Chesterfield (Universal Studios) (Peregrine Whittlesey, NY, NY, agent). Evans is developing a musical with funding from Timber Lake Playhouse, Mt Carroll, Il. Lee Blessing Award and is writing a book with illustrations about Yaqui ceremonies in conjunction with her musical, A YAQUI SPRING. Evans spends time with the Pascua Yaqui tribe in Tucson, Arizona.

EMBRACE ARMS was presented at Great Plains Theater Conference, honoring Lee Blessing, in June, 2011,where Evans was identified as a writer in the theater tradition of the “aburdists.”

Evans was elected to Board of Trustees of the International Center for Women playwrights in July, 2011 and was then elected Secretary General as an officer on the Executive Board in August, 2011. Evans is a full member Dramatists Guild of America.

EMBRACE ARMS currently is being taught at the Ohio State University, (Columbus) Theater Honors program. Evans’ plays and music are archived in the Special Collections unit in the Thompson library (main) at the Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio).

Most current: TAR BARBIE (10 minutes) has made the 1st cut for a performance in Sweden.   TAR BARBIE had a reading at Kennedy Center Playwright Intensive, Washington, DC (Theatre Lab, July, 2011)

She was an adjunct professor of psychology & intensive writing (Wright State University, Lake campus, OH, 2011) and has taught film and psychology at Pima College in Tucson, AZ.
