LEVELS OF MEMBERSHIP

Membership in The Dramatists Guild of America is open to all dramatic writers, regardless of their production or publication history.

ACTIVE
: Active Members have been produced on a First-Class/Broadway, Off-Broadway, or mainstage of a regional theatre (LORT) contract. Active members have full voting privileges and annually elect representatives to the Council (the Board of Directors). Applications must be accompanied by a copy of a review or program from the qualifying production. Annual membership dues are $150.

ASSOCIATE: Associate Members are all other authors of theatrical works (including plays, librettos, lyrics and musical compositions), and are elevated to Active Membership when the production criteria are met. Applications must be accompanied either by a completed theatrical work written by the applicant or by a program or a review of a stage production.  If the applicant is submitting a theatrical work that is otherwise unpublished and unproduced, then the applicant's submitted work will be maintained in the Guild's Script Depository for the duration of the applicant's membership or until applicant's elevation to Active Membership. Annual membership dues are $95.

STUDENT: Student Members must be currently enrolled in a course of dramatic writing instruction. Applications must be accompanied by a letter from the program's senior administrator, or other proof of enrollment, indicating the expected date of graduation. Student members are eligible to become Associate members upon graduation. Annual membership dues are $35.

International members are welcome to join the Guild with no production in the United States necessary. To cover the additional postal charges, international membership has a $10 surcharge for members living in Canada and a $20 surcharge for all other international members.
